I think it is safe to say that we are all sensitive and emotional human beings. The current global crisis has certainly reminded me, and I dare say yourself, that we want back the thing we all took for granted, our basic human right to be happy and healthy.
Unfortunately, the STRESSES of living through this modern world pandemic may be having a negative impact on the perfect body you were born with.
One of those stresses is JAW tension: The junction point that you store emotional tension (and there is certainly a lot of that going around.) This is the place you hold on to your real feelings, the place that holds the tension as you stop yourself from screaming to the world who we are, what you want and what you need.
In my practice generally (and more so over the last 6 weeks) I have noticed people are struggling to open their mouths wide enough to eat, let alone make a vibrant, enthusiastic sound.
The result? This negative tension develops headaches, a tendency to grind your teeth, you may get blocked in and around the major lymphatic junction point that keeps your body clean and ultimately you may have started snapping and growling at people as the emotions take you over.
How do you to let go? How do you make time to heal this forgotten part of your body?
- Stop clenching your teeth: Check in a few times during the day to see if you are clenching your teeth. If you are, consciously let go of your jaw and gently place your tongue between your back teeth.
- Let go of negative emotions: The metaphysical cause of Jaw problems: Anger. Resentment. Desire for revenge. New thought pattern: I am willing to change the patterns in me that created this condition. I love and approve of myself. I AM SAFE.
- Choose positive words and feelings. This will release the tension in your tongue and soft tissues allowing you to create a more resonant tone. (I find screaming into a pillow helps release the emotion brilliantly)
- Massage: Take the time to massage your jaw, stretch your tongue forward and perhaps even try the LION pose a yoga practice for lightening up your day as you let the tension go.
